We’ve Been Busy
To celebrate the launch of Honor Outdoors, we’ve combed through the history books. What better way to show your love of the outdoors and our hunting and fishing heritage than to enjoy some of hunting’s past?
When we asked ourselves that question, we decided to focus on patent prints for our first collection. Some of these designs turned out old school cool, while others are borderline hilarious. Our favorites? Probably Carmichael’s Duck Boat and Herter’s Duck Decoy.
Each of these prints are sourced from actual US Patent Applications, and illustrated as true to the original art as possible. We’ve partnered with TeeSpring to be able to make these designs available on a wide variety of products, made to order and shipped quickly.
Patent Art is an awesome way to show off our history. Along with finding patents with the most story and funny & cool factors possible, we’ve decided to add in some designs to show some attitude as well. We hope you love these designs!
Great Hunting Gift Ideas
American Hunters have a lot to celebrate. We live in one of the best countries in the world for public access to hunting opportunities! While we have to be really thoughtful about what we wear when we’re hunting, we don’t just give up the idea of being a hunter once we get back to the truck.
If anything, that’s when we really find our desire to show our love of the sport.
That urge for self-expression is strong, and we have it too. We’re hoping these designs might make great gifts for the hunter in your life!
Ready to look at some cool hunting gifts- or hunting hoodies and tee-shirts that you might want for yourself? Let’s get started!
I’d Rather Be In My Blind

Know someone who may be in the room with you, but would rather be in the middle of the woods? Yeah, so do we. (Want to know a secret? We’d rather be in our blind, too.)
Available as a hoodie, tee, blanket, or phone case, we hope this might be a great hunting gift for one of your family or friends! You can find these on TeeSpring.
Carmichael’s Duck Boat

Duck Hunting is serious business. At least, Carmichael thought so. This visionary inventor came up with a pretty killer design for boat-pants to make duck hunting easy when you’re running solo. I wonder why these never caught on…
Carmichael’s Duck Boat is available as a Tee, Hoodie, and on a handful of home goods. You can find it here on TeeSpring.
Erickson’s Canoe

Where Carmichael’s Duck Boat is funny, Erickson’s Canoe is just plain cool. Some of this old patent art we came across is just stunning! A little more subtle of a hunting and fishing message, it’s still a fun way to rep the outdoors.
Erickson’s Canoe is available printed on three types of shirts, as a hoodie, and as a print. You can find it here on TeeSpring.
Carlson’s Animated Duck Decoy

Another strong ‘old school cool’ design, Carlson’s Duck Decoy is an awesome gift for duck hunters! Originally patented in the 1950s, this seems like one of the first decoys simulating a duck locked in on approach to add to a spread. While the motion looks like it was way different from today’s Mojo decoys and other motion decoys, it’s pretty amazing that there were ideas like this more than 50 years ago!
Herter’s Duck Decoy is available as a tee, hoodie, or printed on dry goods for the home. You can find it here on TeeSpring.
OG Patriot

Can you think of any bigger patriot in history than the Original George? George Washington shouts to the world what’s on your mind all the time anyway: Hunt Every Day. For the hunting patriot in your life, we think the OG Patriot makes a great hunting gift.
OG Patriot is available printed onto two types of tees, on a hoodie, and on some additional dry goods. You can find it here on TeeSpring.
Siever’s Decoy Blind

Really stop and look at this one. It’s been hard to show it off in pictures, but the idea is truly glorious. We think Siever was way ahead of his time. If you’ve ever seen anything like this in real life, please let us know. The basic idea? Build a cow about the size of two adults plus room for cargo.
Of course, you’ll need to give yourself leg holes to be able to walk this blind out into a field. Of course, you’ll need to cut windows in the side of the cow for the rear shooter. And OF COURSE, you’ve got to make it so the front half of the cow can drop away when the perfect shot opens up in front of the blind. This guy was a genius. Maybe it’ll make the perfect hunting gift for your buddy who’s a genius blind builder!
Siever’s Decoy Blind is available as a tee-shirt, hoodie, and poster. You can find it here on TeeSpring.
Ballistic

If you’re anything like me, you’ve wondered once or twice how much bullets have changed in the past hundred years or so. Inventions like this start to give us a clue. Along with being an awesome way to illustrate bullet design, it’s just so cool to see how people improved hunting like this in the mid-1900s! Can anyone say cavitation?
Ballistic is available printed on socks, tee-shirts, a hoodie, and as a poster. You can find it here on TeeSpring.
Borger’s Popper Lure

In future collections, there will be lots more fishing patent art. For now, this was one of the best ones we came across. This popper lure patent art is some awesome old Americana, and a perfect gift for fishermen. For yourself or the buddy in your life that’s a little bass crazy, think it over!
Borger’s Popper Lure is available as a tank top, tee shirt, hoodie, or printed on a variety of dry goods- including a throw pillow! You can find it here on TeeSpring.
Biocchi’s Duck Call

Duck Calls have changed a ton in the past 100 years. Back when they were all handcrafted pieces of art, Biocchi came up with some improvements that were worth claiming ownership over as a patent. This patent art duck hunting design shows some amazing cross-sections of how Duck Calls work. A perfect gift for the duck hunter in your life, or a perfect way to show off your love of the sport!
Biocchi’s Duck Call is available as a unisex tee, women’s tee, hoodie, and print. You can find it here on TeeSpring.
